11th December 2001 - Annual Christmas Knock-out Competition....After a hard fought contest, punctuated, of course, by mince pies and wine, Fred McDowell's "Bun Jumping" was declared, on members votes, as this year's winner. Why not give yourself a little Xmas cheer by on the link to see Fred's humorous masterpiece : Bun Jumping...and a Happy Christmas to all our visiting surfers.
17th November 2001 - Alan Mitchell Trophy won by Nick Abbott with his "The Shoppe Keeper".
The subject for this year's Alan Mitchell project trophy was collage/montage. With a respectable 20+ entries, Nick's winning creation was originally taken on a print film with 15 conventional 6"x4" prints being collaged together to form the final image. Why not pop along and see a selection of our members work, including competition entries. This will probably be our last exhibition in the "old" library.
Summer 2001 - KPS Success in the L&CPU Annuals
A number of KPS members attained excellent results for their entries in this year's Lancashire & Cheshire Photographic Union Annual Competition. Both Phil Smith and Terry Heath each had 2 submissions retained for inclusion in the L&CPU Portfolio (which is circulated around all member clubs, together with a taped commentary by one selected club). Jean Emsley scored the highest mark of all the KPS entries for her "The Geyser Field", which the L&CPU have decided to put forward into the national PAGB (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) competition. Well done to all.

7th July 2001 - Society Summer Outing to Ironbridge - what a success!
One of the better supported club outings in recent history, the outing to
Ironbridge will be remembered by those who came along for sometime to come as
simply a great day out. Although the lighting was somewhat grey and flat, at
least it (hardly) rained and was certainly warm. We also have to thank a very
obliging drayman and his shire at Blists Hills for turning model and following
George's various directions! Let's hope that the club outing next year is at
least as successful. We look forward to seeing some great Engineering Detail
shots in the forthcoming club competition (?!).

Members may wish to contribute their photos taken on the day to the Virtual Shopshire Website.
25th June 2001 - Knutsford P.S. Feature on GMR (BBC Greater Radio Manchester)!
The
Knutsford Photographic Society was pleased to have been invited to take-part on
one of GMR's "People and Places" events, which, on the 25th June,
featured Knutsford. During a broadcasting from the town, the Society's Press
Office and past-President (George Littler) was asked about the club's history
and activities. George outlined that the Society was 52 years old and that the
inspiration for founding the Society was two well known local photographers of
the past. These were Hal Whitaker, who had a photographers' shop in Knutsford
and Fred Done, who was a recognised amateur photographer who once won a car in a
National Competition with one of his prints.
As the interview progressed, the support by the club to Local Authorities and others was covered e.g. the Millenium 2000 Photographic Archive, Knutsford in bloom etc. George then talked about where the Society meets, our programme and that we had members working in the Digital field as well as conventional photography.
George did a great job of representing the Society in its first ever radio interview. Thanks George!
